Safo Sepulcro
Blackwork, dark tattoo and freehand tattoo artist in Barcelona. I work the black the way you'd carve a shadow: by taking away, not adding. Every piece is drawn for one body and one story.
Listening before tattooing.
I don't tattoo catalogues. I listen to what you bring, let it settle, and hand it back to you as a symbol: a piece that only makes sense on you.
Nothing is traced and nothing is repeated. Before the needle touches skin, the design is talked through, looked at calmly and adjusted until it fully convinces you. Rushing has never drawn anything worth carrying for life.
From paper to skin.
I come from drawing and painting. Tattooing came later, as one more technique within the same obsession: black, contrast and the unsaid. Skin is just another surface — alive, with its shape, its tension and its empty spaces — which is why what works on paper doesn't always work on an arm.
That's where my way of working comes from: freehand when the piece calls for it, drawn directly on the body so the composition moves with the muscle instead of fighting it. The result is a piece that, quite literally, cannot exist on anyone else.
Four ways of looking.
A clean line and a mass of shadow are not the same thing. Each style is a different way of listening to the body and deciding what stays and what disappears.
A private studio in Barcelona.
I work by appointment only, in Barcelona / Montcada, and often with people who travel here to get tattooed. If you have an idea — an image, a story or just an intuition — tell me about it and we'll turn it into something that stays with you.
